2017 Puerto Rican Festival Parade

March with Larry on Sunday at the Puerto Rican Day parade!

Each year, Concilio hosts the Annual Puerto Rican Festival Parade, a vibrant event which has been woven into the Philadelphia fabric for many years. The parade is a celebration of Puerto Rican culture in our Philadelphia community ... Held on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the Puerto Rican Festival Parade typically has around 1,500 marchers; more than 5,000 attendees; and 96,000 tune in to watch live on 6ABC.

We need plenty of volunteers to hand out literature, help register new voters and march with Larry. If you can be there on Sunday, find out where to meet and what to do by e-mailing Juan at volunteer@krasnerforda.com.

Us and Them: Music as a Healing Force

Songs in the Key of Free presents Us and Them, a concert in solidarity with our brothers and sisters on the inside. The songs are composed in workshops held at SCI Graterford, Pennsylvania's largest maximum-security prison. They will be performed live by Philadelphia-area musicians including Alexa Gold, the Anna Crusis Women's Choir and TwizzMatic, while multimedia footage from inside Graterford connects the audience to the songwriters.

When hands that serve are squeezing life from me
and those who lead are deaf to all our pleas
they’re blind to all we see, refuse to give even an inch it seems.

                                                — from I Can’t Breathe, by Cody S.

The interactive, participatory concert will feature talks by returning citizens and others (including district attorney candidate Larry Krasner) about the issue of mass incarceration and about music as a transformative force. Presented in partnership with Broad Street Ministry. Free and open to the public.

Campaign Re-Launch: Into the Homestretch!

If you were there on February 8 when Larry declared his candidacy for district attorney, you remember the electric excitement about the possibility that Philadelphia might elect a DA who is truly dedicated to creating a fairer, more just and more effective criminal justice system.

After a lot of hard work, it's now so much more than a possibility. But we aren't sitting back on our primary victory. We have to prove that the desire for reform runs deep and strong and that it's going to keep running all the way through November, to the swearing-in on January 8 and beyond.

Come back to PhillyCam's studio and join Larry as he launches the fall campaign and outlines his vision for a new kind of DA's Office, and as we all re-dedicate ourselves to change and justice. Please arrive promptly at 5:00 pm; we'll be out by 5:45.

This has always been a grassroots campaign. Let's stand together.

Please RSVP via Facebook if you can
... and join us at Independence Beer Garden for happy hour afterward.

"Need A Little Help" (needle and petition delivery)

On June 22, the day after school ends, the NEED A LITTLE HELP campaign will deliver hundreds of heroin needles, picked up off the streets of Kensington, to public officials in Philadelphia. You're invited to come to City Hall (NE corner) for the delivery of the needles along with a petition.

As residents of Philadelphia, we have collected 100s of needles off our streets this year, and we are delivering jars full of the needles to you as a plea for help. Please work together with our community to stop the trafficking of drugs through our neighborhood.
This is a public health issue. It is an economic issue. It is a safety issue.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Our children do not have to grow up thinking it is normal to see needles on the sidewalk. We believe we can build a neighborhood that we are proud of – but we need a little help from you.

(See Facebook post from Shane Claiborne)

Larry Krasner will speak briefly about how the District Attorney's Office can help address the drug epidemic in Philadelphia.
