Krasner Wins Backing of Working Families Party

Following in the footsteps of Mayor Jim Kenney and City Council members Blondell Reynolds Brown and Helen Gym, civil rights attorney Larry Krasner has won the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Working Families Party in the Democratic primary for Philadelphia District Attorney.

“Larry Krasner is the right person to lead law enforcement in Philadelphia,” said Brandon Evans, director of Pennsylvania Working Families Party. “Larry knows that stop and frisk policies, mass incarceration, and prosecution of low level, nonviolent crimes not only don’t deter crime, but condemn a significant portion of our city’s residents and families to disrupted lives, and diminished life outcomes.”

Pennsylvania Working Families Party is a politically potent force, putting feet on the street to work for endorsed candidates, along with mail and other communications with the organization’s members and the general public to educate voters on Krasner’s record and vision for Philadelphia.

“Larry Krasner’s bold progressive agenda recognizes that criminal justice reform is key to transforming our communities, socially and economically,” said Bishop Dwayne Royster, board chair of Pennsylvania Working Families Party, political director of the PICO Action Fund, and the Senior Pastor/Founder Emeritus of the Living Water United Church of Christ.

"Like Working Families, I believe that economic equality and criminal justice reform are intertwined,” said Krasner. “Truly progressive criminal justice reform will strengthen our communities and our hard working families. I am honored to be endorsed by Working Families as the next District Attorney of Philadelphia. Justice makes us safer."

A leading candidate for the Democratic nomination for District Attorney in a primary scheduled for May 16, Krasner has previously been endorsed by progressive-minded organizations including Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees (BMWE) Division (national) - International Brotherhood of Teamsters; B.L.O.C. (Build, Lead, Organize, Campaign); and Reclaim Philadelphia.
